‘Hurricane Sydney Blows Off Steam!’

Sometimes Sweet Sydney Marie Stewart becomes Hurricane Sydney, which can happen as fast as a Blue Norther can blow across Texas. Well, we saw Hurricane Sydney blow thru the other night.
I can’t remember why Syd was upset but she was spinning like a weathervane in a windstorm. She channeled her fury at the DVD’s on the shelf near the TV. Syd was throwing them off the cabinet as fast as she could. As they went flying thru the air like Frisbees I told her that Joe Bill and I weren’t going to pick them up. I warned her that if she didn’t clean them up that we were going to leave them there for her Mommy and Daddy to see. Syd made it clear that she wasn’t going to pick them up and stormed across the room.
JB and James had been upstairs getting James ready for bed. Even though he’s only 2½, when a surprised James saw the mess on the living room floor, he immediately knew this was going to be a real problem and that there would be storm clouds ahead in the Stewart House. He suggested that the 3 of us pick up the DVD’s. I let James know it was Syd’s responsibility to do it.
As it got later I reminded Syd that we weren’t going to clean things up for her. Finally, Syd, who had downgraded herself to a minor rainstorm, realized that I meant what I said. So she decided to make picking up the DVD’s into a contest. Syd’s found that competition works for her. Then, acting like Little Miss Sunshine she enticed James to help her. Because he’s the sweetest little thing, he agreed.
I told them that I’d count the DVD’s as The Kids put them back on the shelf. That’s when Syd went into overdrive. James isn’t tall enough to reach the shelf so he was handing HIS DVD’s to Syd…who added them to HER COUNT! And the whole time Syd kept boasting to James that SHE WAS BEATING HIM! I can’t wait until James is old enough to figure out what’s going on! In the meantime, my guess is that Syd is going to continue trying to beat her brother no matter what the situation is! Let’s hope that we often see the SUNNY part of Syd’s personality!
Love, D2
